A Brief History of Faith Bible Church
Faith Bible Church is located in Littleton, NH, a quaint little town nestled in the White Mountains. From the church’s founding on September 11, 1977, it has seen consistent growth through God's blessing. Twenty-one people were present at the first services held in various homes. Raymond Mudge from Maine served as its interim pastor at that time. On October 2, 1977, the services were held at the Littleton Town Hall until November 27, 1977, when the Littleton Methodist Church kindly allowed the church to use their parish hall.
Pastor John Rhuland from Massachusetts began as the first full-time pastor on December 11, 1977. Twelve days later, on December 23, the farmhouse (known for years as the Gould Farm) was purchased. Men in the church renovated the farmhouse, making a place for worship and fellowship on the first floor, several Sunday school rooms, and an apartment for the pastor's family upstairs. The services were held in the pastor’s living room during the renovations.
On July 2, 1978, fourteen people attended the first service in the newly renovated parsonage building. They happily met there until the fall of 1984, when the present sanctuary construction was completed. Over the years, there have been many small renovations to expand space for the growing church population. Roland Lawendowski from Maine served as pastor from September 3, 1978, to September 26, 1979.
On January 6, 1980, Rev. Edward Milonas from Weare, NH, became the pastor. He and his wife Esther had served as missionaries in Greece (1951-1955) and Australia (1958-1963). Pastor Milonas died in a car accident on April 27, 1984. Pastor Moses Sabina began serving within two weeks of Pastor Milonas’s death. During his tenure, summer and fall of 1984, construction of the present sanctuary building took place. Pastor Sabina resigned at the end of 1986.
Mac Starring and his family (wife, Jan and their three children) came to Faith Bible Church in April 1987 and enjoyed 30+ wonderful years of service here. Under Pastor Starring’s leadership, the church grew from a group of fourteen committed followers of Jesus to one hundred and fifty in regular attendance by his retirement in 2019. Through that tenure, new ministries were started, and the doors were opened for the church to begin serving and ministering to Littleton and the North Country community. Pastor Starring benefitted the community through pastoral counseling and care. Jan Starring was instrumental in helping to define the church structure and building of local ministries, because of her experience as a pastor's daughter. Together they faithfully brought the gospel message to a community in need.
In April 2014, the church added a new position to its pastoral staff: a Pastor of Ministers. Nick DeYoung accepted the call and he and his family (wife and their four children) came to New Hampshire ready to see what God had in store for the next chapter of Faith Bible Church. In September 2019, Pastor DeYoung took over as the Lead Pastor and was immediately tasked with the challenge of leading the church through difficult times like COVID-19 and the cultural unrest that was experienced at the time. Pastor DeYoung is hopeful and excited about the church’s future as we all walk together in healing and strength, ready to boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
