church2We, at Faith Bible Church, believe that God created the heavens and the earth. What a great comfort that is to know that we are not here by meaningless chance. We are created in God’s Image, can you imagine that! In fact God says that He loves us just like a father loves his children.

The Scriptures tell us that things were perfect until Adam and Eve decided they didn’t want to follow God’s instructions and as a result sin was brought into this world. Not only did they sin, but since all people are descendants of Adam we are all born with a sin nature. “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23. That is not a fun reality, but it is true. Just look around, you will notice a broken world all around us. Have you ever felt pain, or been hurt by someone? Does there seem to be injustice all around. That is the broken world…

Not only do we live in a broken world, but that brokenness keeps us separated from God. The ultimate separation comes at death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life…” Romans 6:23. Just as the Scripture says that we all sin, it also says that sin leads to death. And that death keeps us separated from God. You may have noticed the end of Romans 6:23 saying that the FREE gift of God is eternal life. God is giving us a gift that will cure us of this sin nature. You might be asking what is this free gift and HOW do I get it? The rest of Romans 6:23 says “…the free gift of God is eternal life IN Christ Jesus our Lord.” The Scriptures go on to say in Romans 5:8 “…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus is that free gift!

We believe in what the Scriptures say about Jesus. Because of the sin condition of the world, and God’s love for the world, Jesus came and gave himself as a final sacrifice for all mankind. Sacrifice, what does that mean? Well, God’s people (the nation of Israel) had been told to offer sacrifices for the sins of their people. The lamb sacrifices were a temporary fix for the sin condition. God had set this group of people, and their practices, as an example for other nations. The Scriptures say that in the fullness of time (at the right time) Jesus was made as a final sacrifice for humanity. “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam (Jesus) became a life-giving spirit.” I Corinthians 15:45.

Is it enough that Jesus died for me? Yes and no. Yes, Jesus’ sacrifice covers all mankind. BUT we must accept that sacrificial gift in order to have eternal life with God. “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13. Just as you might get a gift for Christmas or your birthday you actually have to open the gift in order to accept it from the gift giver. What use is the gift if you just leave it wrapped up on your shelf? So with Jesus you must accept the gift of eternal life.

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!” Romans 10:9. That my friends is the good news of Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him as your Savior today?

Here is a little prayer that you might want to say if you are ready to put your hope and trust in Jesus.

God I know that I am a sinner. I know that I cannot save myself from the curse of sin. I also know that I need a Savior. I believe that Jesus Christ came and died for my sins and rose from the dead. I accept that gift and want to have eternal life with You. I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is my Savior and give all of my life to you. Amen

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior or have more questions about this we would love to hear from you.
